What is Girl Geek Summit?
The Girl Geek summit was established with the aim of exposing young girls to the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers. The summit invites young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds to an event which showcases the extensive careers in the STEM industry. The young girls get exposed to top tier local and international female leaders in the industry. Over 150 000 school girls benefited from our programme since 2018.
In June 2019 Africa Teen Geeks hosted its inaugural Girl Geek Summit at the Momentum Headquarters, in Centurion South Africa. The Girl Geek Summit is aimed at exposing and inspiring girls aged 9-18 years old to pursue STEM careers.
The young girls get exposed to top tier local and international female leaders in the industry, the work they do and what it takes to be a female lead player in the STEM industry. It is crucial that the young girls see themselves within the leaders in the industry. The Girl Geek summit is an annual event and Africa Teen Geeks invites more partners to empower young girls with opportunities and access to careers post their tertiary schooling.
